Happenings of my 2nd Grader...

I wanted to post a weekly wrap up of sorts, but it's more like a 3 week wrap up! Mainly about my 2nd grader and what he's been up to :)  Just a few snapshots of life in 2nd grade.

He's been doing great and I've been so impressed by him in the last few weeks.  How we've grown up since last year!  Watching his spelling excel since starting All About Spelling has been amazing.  I'm learning such neat spelling rules that I always just knew, but never realized there were rules for!  His reading is sooooo good!  He's just impressing me all around!

Besides our main curriculum, we've been adding in some fun things.  We're doing a "Getting to know the World's Greatest Artists" from www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com - she offers it free and we love it.  He's been studying Picasso for three weeks now.

Here he is doing his 'Picasso' painting and also doing a puzzle of 'Girl in a Mirror' which we'll put into our Artists lapbook.

He started swimming lessons again.  I think this is our 5th or 6th session. He just went up to level 2 and is doing very well.

Just a little felt fun time with the brothers...

his 'Garden of Gethsemane'... I loved how he found a cup of wine to put in the angel's hand :)

Last weekend he did the 2nd reading for his Aunt Mary's wedding.  I was so proud of him.  He wasn't nervous about it for a minute!

Congrats Aunt Mary and Uncle Steven!  Here is daddy with his siblings! It was a beautiful wedding.

On Thursday we went on a field trip to tour the amazingly beautiful Watson-Curtze mansion and then the Planetarium.  Everyone had a great time.

I'd have to say one of his favorite things has been all his creature friends he's found/hatched!

Here's "Mantee'.  He lived with us for a few days.  We even bought him crickets and watched him eat them...even I was impressed!

Mr. Toad wasn't with us long.

By far, far, far his favorite (I hear that it's his favorite MANY times a day) is our newest pet.  We incubated him for 28 days and Monday finally got to meet him!

Meet Webbers Quackers Walky Swimmy Flyie - Webbers for short!  (combined name from all the kids) He's done just about everything with us...even swimming in the bathtub!

Eveyone loves him!

That's it!  Well, definitely not it - there's much more, but that's all I took pictures of ;)
I hope all of you had wonderful first week(s) of school!  And see all of you grandparents tomorrow for the good old Albion kids tractor pull!!!  I have two eager contestants here!
